With our Mechanics Upgrade 2 you can use the Altay Track in a vertical plane to
study free fall and motion of the pendulum
The study of free fall and the pendulum is one of the most fundamental
studies in mechanics.
A free-falling object is an object which is falling under the influence of
gravity. That is to say that any object which is moving and being acted upon
only be the force of gravity is said to be “in a state of free fall”.
Determining and measuring free fall is made easy with our Mechanics Upgrade
2. You simply mount the Track in the vertical position and gather your data.
The acceleration of gravity is studied by measuring the time necessary for a
falling body to travel a fixed distance on the graduated scale.
With this upgrade you can also verify the Pendulum Law.
Using the Altay Oscillations Counter and Electronic Timer the period of the
pendulum can be easily and accurately measured.
