Vernier Anemometer
The Vernier Anemometer is an impeller-type anemometer that measures wind speed in the range of 0.5 to 30 m/s (1 to 67 mph). The Anemometer fits in your palm for wind study measurements in the field. A standard camera mounts on the back and an accessory rod allows you to position it in wind tunnels or in front of fans for wind turbine experiments.

Suggested Experiments Include
- Quantifying Power/Energy from classroom sized Wind Turbines, Solar Panels, and Fuel Cells
- Creating a Power Curve for a Small Wind Turbine
- Solar Thermal System Efficiency
- Analyzing AC Generators & Wind Turbines
- Determining Solar PV Panel Efficiency
Kid Wind project® is working closely with Vernier to produce a series of experiments to quantify the power and energy output of Kid Wind’s wind turbines. We have found their hardware easy to use, and it provides a large amount of data for a variety of simple or complex experiments that students commonly perform.
