substances contained in a volatile liquid or gaseous sample.
 The Vernier Gas Chromatograph, or “Mini GC”, has all of the key components of a traditional gas chromatograph, including an injection port, temperature and pressure controls, a thin capillary column through which different substances pass at different rates depending on various chemical and physical properties, and a sensor for detecting the arrival of compounds.
The Mini GC also has the added benefit of a new patented MEMS chip sensor which allows for room air to be used as a carrier gas. Its compact size makes it an ideal solution for students to learn the principles of gas chromatography.

Mini GC with Vernier LabQuest  The Vernier LabQuest interface connects directly with the Mini GC via USB for real-time data acquisition and analysis. The combination of a LabQuest and Mini GC at each lab station makes it easy to set up without a computer.
The Vernier LabQuest is a powerful interface designed for versatility. Use it as a stand-alone device, a computer interface, or in the field. LabQuest was created with today's classroom in mind with its vivid colour touch screen, durability, and ease of use.
Gas Chromatography with Vernier Software
After the peaks are detected, our software allows students to easily determine retention times and to integrate peaks to quantify the relative amount of each compound present in the sample. It can detect and distinguish between many important families of compounds, including:
- alcohols
- aldehydes
- ketones
- aromatic hydrocarbons
- carboxylic acids
- chlorinated hydrocarbons
- esters
- ethers
- nitriles
One of the big advantages of the Mini GC is its USB connectivity to computers or the LabQuest handheld. This allows students to easily control data collection commands, collect data in real time, and then do peak analysis, all directly from their computer or LabQuest.
Software Sold Separately:
You will also need software for Mini GC setup, data collection, and analysis. You can use Logger Pro for computers or the LabQuest.
- For computers, Logger Pro 3.8 or newer is required.
- For LabQuest, LabQuest App 1.3 or newer is required.
