Ion-Selective Electrodes

Our Ion-Selective Electrodes are great for monitoring four environmentally important ions: Nitrate (NO3-), Chloride (Cl-), Calcium (Ca2+) and Ammonium (NH4+).
Features:
Electrodes are combination-style, non-refillable and gel-filled. It is important for you to know that the PVC membranes of the Nitrate, Calcium and Ammonium ISEs have a limited life expectancy of one to two years. This is true of all ISEs with PVC membranes. Replacement modules for these ISEs allow you to simply discard the used one and replace it with a new module. We recommend that you do not purchase replacement modules far in advance of their expected time of use as their life expectancy is limited as well. The Chloride ISE has a solid state membrane and therefore does not need to be replaced. Included with each ISE are two calibration standards and a short-term soaking bottle.
General Specifications:
| Electrode Resistance: | 1 to 4 MΩ |
| Reproducibility: | ± 5% of reading |
| Temperature range (can be placed in): | 0 to 50°C (no temperature compensation) |
| Minimum immersion: | 1 inch |
| Electrode Length: | 155 mm |
| Body Diameter: | 12 mm |
| Cap Diameter: | 16 mm |
| Cable Length: | 100 cm |
The Ammonium Ion-Selective Electrode (ISE) can be used to measure the concentration of Ammonium (NH4+) in aqueous samples.
Use the Ammonium ISE to measure levels of ammonium ions introduced from fertilizers. It can also indicate aqueous ammonia levels if sample solutions are acidified to convert NH3 to NH4+.
The Ammonium ISE has a combination-style, non-refillable, gel-filled electrode. Like all other PVC ISE membranes, the membrane on the ISE has a limited life expectancy. However, the replaceable module of ISE allows you to simply discard the used membrane module, and replace it with a new one.

The Calcium Ion-Selective Electrode (ISE) can be used to measure the concentration of Calcium (Ca2+) in aqueous samples.
Data from the Calcium ISE can give a good indication of hardness of water (as Ca2+). The concentration of Calcium is also used as an endpoint indicator in EDTA-Ca/Mg hardwater titrations.
The Calcium ISE has a combination-style, non-refillable, gel-filled electrode. Like all other PVC ISE membranes, the membrane on the ISE has a limited life expectancy. However, the replaceable module of ISE allows you to simply discard the used membrane module, and replace it with a new one.

The Chloride Ion-Selective Electrode is used to measure the concentration of Chloride (Cl-) in aqueous samples.
The concentration of the Chloride ion gives a quick measurement of salinity of water samples. Use the Chloride ISE to measure chloride levels in ocean saltwater or salt in food samples.
The Chloride ISE has a combination-style, non-refillable, gel-filled electrode. Unlike other ISEs available from Vernier, the Chloride ISE has a solid-state membrane that does not need to be replaced.

The Nitrate Ion-Selective Electrode (ISE) can be used to measure the concentration of Nitrate (NO3-) in aqueous samples.
Nitrate concentration, which can be increased by acidic rainfall, fertilizer runoff from fields, and plant or animal decay or waste, is an important parameter in nearly all water quality studies. Use the Nitrate ISE to determine the concentration of the nitrate ion in a water sample.
The Nitrate ISE has a combination-style, non-refillable, gel-filled electrode. Like all other PVC ISE membranes, the membrane on the ISE has a limited life expectancy. However, the replaceable module of ISE allows you to simply discard the used membrane module, and replace it with a new one.
