Demonstration Electric Motor

This ready-built demonstration electric motor is a fully functional unit which clearly shows all the essential features of a simple motor as taught in the 14-16 science curriculum

A single rectangular coil rotates in a linear magnetic field with a simple commutator and brush arrangement. Field direction can be reversed by reversing the ferrite slab magnets and current direction can be reversed by reversing the leads. Connections are by standard 4mm plugs and the brushes are easily adjustable for reliable operation.

The base is in white 3mm acrylic with overall dimensions 150 x 80 x 60mm. Voltages 1.5 to 6V.
