Space Tube

This unit is an updated version of the Bell in a Bell Jar experiment. It comprises a high amplitude, battery powered piezo sounder enclosed within a clear acrylic tube. By inserting the stopper in one end and evacuating the tube using a standard laboratory vacuum pump, the air can be removed and the effect of sound being unable to pass through a vacuum clearly demonstrated.
