LabQuest Sensors
The Conductivity Probe determines the ionic content of an aqueous solution by measuring its conductivity. This has many applications in chemistry, biology, and environmental science.
The Conductivity Probe has three ranges, providing optimal precision in any given range. Biology teachers can use this probe to demonstrate diffusion of ions through membranes. Chemistry students are able to quickly investigate the difference between ionic and molecular compounds, strong and weak acids, or ionic compounds that yield different ratios of ions. Environmental science students use it to measure TDS, total dissolved solids.

Use the Dual-Range Force Sensor in a wide variety of experiments including the study of friction, simple harmonic motion, impact in collisions, or centripetal force. The Dual-Range Force Sensor has two ranges: ±10N or ±50N. It can be easily mounted on a Vernier Dynamics Cart for use with the Vernier Dynamics System. Mount one on the New Centripetal Force Apparatus, on a ring stand or even as a replacement for a hand-held spring scale.

The Gas Pressure Sensor can be used to monitor pressure changes in a gas. The range is wide enough to perform Boyle's law yet it is sensitive enough to conduct vapor-pressure or pressure-temperature experiments. Biology teachers can use the Gas Pressure Sensor to monitor transpiration or respiration in an enclosed environment.

This sensor uses a Hall effect transducer, and measures a vector component of the magnetic field near the sensor tip. It has two ranges, allowing for measurement of relatively strong magnetic fields around permanent magnets and electromagnets, as well as measurement of weak fields such as the Earth's magnetic field. The articulated sensor tip allows you to measure both transverse and longitudinal magnetic fields.

The Motion Detector uses ultrasound to measure distance. Ultrasonic pulses are emitted by the Motion Detector, reflected from a target and then detected by the device. The time it takes for the reflected pulses to return is used to calculate position, velocity and acceleration. This allows you to study the motion of objects such as a person walking, a ball in free fall or a cart on a ramp.
