How to measure the time release of Vitamin C
The complete experiment can be found in the Chemistry with Vernier, experiment 31.
Brief
Timed-released tablets are a good alternative to a multiple doses. By slowly releasing a dose throughout the day. There are many ways to achieve this effect one of which is to use a polymers coating that allows it to slowly permeate into the body.
Using a pH probe it is possible to record the change in pH as this polymer coat works.
Objectives
In this experiment, you will
- Compare the behavior of timed-release vitamin C tablets with regular vitamin C tablets when each is added to distilled water.
- Use a pH Sensor to monitor the pH value of the two different types of vitamin C tablets over an elapsed time of approximately twelve minutes.
