Description
The purpose of this experiment is to study the magnetic field produced by an electric current in of Helmholtz coils according to Biot-Savart law. You will investigate :
- The magnetic field distribution along the coil axis (x-axis) passing through the centre of the both Helmholtz coils
- The strength of the magnetic field at the middle point between the Helmholtz coils.
Helmholtz Coils consist of two identical circular coils mounted on a base to produce a magnetic field between the coils. The magnetic field at the middle point of Helmholtz Coils carrying an electrical current (I) can be calculated by:
